Word of Faith is embarking on a journey to proclaim the uncompromising gospel to a generation that has been over looked and neglected.
Sunday, May 15, 2005G. Craig Lewis Part 2
Part two of "The Truth Behind Hip-Hop", was a great balance to the first DVD. There were a lot of questions that were asked after the first session. We had ministry workers that were at the church for a long time after the first DVD, but the second DVD seemed to bring some more clarity and focus to the message. We did have questions, but they were more along the lines of how to get others to understand what God is doing in their life. With both of these videos, it is easy to think that ministers such as G. Craig Lewis are trying to ban anyone in the body of Christ from hearing any music at all, but after watching the video a few times, that is not the message that I take away. The real take away for me was, "do your research", and be aware of the real message behind what you are wearing or listening to. As we walk with Christ, there are things that need to be cut off. That does not mean that we need to all lock ourselves into the church for prayer meeting, but that does mean that when there are things that you are promoting in any way that do not give God glory, you must ask yourself the question, "Why"? These videos have had a great impact at our church, but for any Pastors or ministry leaders that may be reading this, you should make sure that you have watched the entire thing on your own first because it opens up a world of questions that you need to be prepared to answer. As always, we look forward to hearing from you! By Faith | Pastor Lyons, Jr
Comments:
I really don't have a comment rather than a question. I live in Detroi,MI and I was wondering if there was a website that I could purchase the truth behind hip hop. I am my church;s youth minister and I would love to show them the video. So please if you can, help me out. Thank you in advance.
Thank you Mr. Lewis for listening to and following God's directions. Truly, you have accomplished your task of getting the word out (more). Continue to keep your ears open to God and your voice ready to speak. Thank you for answering God's call to you! Thank you for being his ambassador! You have knocked God's unemployment down by one! You may be one but with God, you get a lot of work done! By the way, tell your wife she's a very good supporter. You can tell she's by your side listening to your conversation about her! As I go, remember: pray together-stay together!
respectfully submitted- Carolina
Hello Pastor Lewis,
Being a 19 year old black male, I am so into music, but your teaching has really cahnged my entire view on hip-hop. My cousins and I actually rap, but it is all about our savior Jesus Christ. Still, I always said peoples lyrics will never make me kill or smoke, but I never realized the things music made me do by it actually speaking to my soul. I am determined to tell all my freinds about your sermon and the truth that hip-hop is nothing we thought it was. I could not stop crying after watching the dvd because I truly feel that God was speaking to my cousins and me, and I feel so differently about a lot of things. I thank God that he has blessed you with such an empowering message because this was something I needed to see and hear.
Hey I Really Love What G Craig Lewis had to say about hip hop, and all the other types of worldly music. Ive always knew there was something wrong with hip hop music. I use to be an inspired rapper, and my testamony is that as I went deeper and deeper in my rapping skills, I've become exactly what I was rapping about, but now that Ive seen the Truth about HIP HOP, God has delivered me from that mezmerizing spirit now I can Preach to other young poeple who listen to hip hop and tell them what this music is doing to them
I watched the Dvd entiled the truth about hiphop music.I must confess that I was ignorant to all of this, but I'm thankful to God for imparting this knowledge to Bro.Craig to pull the cover off and expose the advesary.I'm living in Jamaica is there any way I could get this disk to purchase. Please let me known and thanks in advance!
Its amazing to me that so many people are blinded by the devil. After viewing all of the dvds and the documentary, I did not question his messages. It all made sense to me. I was upset because so called christians were upset with Elder Lewis. I always knew that some of this music had bad messages behind them, but he made me see it in a different light. I now know that it is not possible to represent the body of JESUS CHRIST and listen to secular music, even some of the gospel music sends mixed messages. So, i say preach, teach, and reach on. Pastor lewis must be doing something right because people know better and have the nerve enough to get upset. Even the church is mad because he is telling the truth. I thank God for this man. Just think, a cd collection is liable to send us to hell.
I thank God for Min. Lewis and his unwavering faith in God to do his will no matter what. I am so glad that you obeyed God when he gave you the divine revelation to inform the Church of what is at hand. I am a 25 year old Christian lady who was raised in true Christianity (not associated with religion) and I have been truly awakened and enlightened by the message of God you delivered. I totally dismiss music, culture, etc. that is not of and for Jesus Christ. I would love to meet you and your wife and possibly work with your ministry by delivering God's message through psalm and instrument. I must express again that the message God gave you to deliver to us has changed the hearts and minds of a multitude of people, young and old. Go on in the Lord and truly know that no weapon formed against you shall prosper!
There are only a few biblical topics that I have found Mr. G Craig Lewis not being based in sound scripture for the New Testament Church.
I have not heard first hand his comments on Creflo or Mase, but I will say that Mase is a disgrace to the body of Christ because he has violated God's word (II Corinthians 6:14-19) the Holy Scripture futher states in Ephesians that we (Christians) are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them. Mase is like the dog that the scripture says ran back to lick and lap up his own vomit, or like the sow (pig) after being washed clean (by the Blood of Jesus) runs back to wallow in the same old muck and mire. The scripture says that Mase's last state of being is worse than his first and that it would have been better for him to have never known the way of righteousness than after knowing it go back. I have told Mase this to his face. the scripture further states that if an "elder" sins, rebuke him before all, that others may fear also. As far as Creflo is concerned, he is filled with avarice and simony (look it up in your webster's dictionary)which is sin and he is making his converts two fold the children of hell as he is himself. Just as an example no where in the New Testament church does the scripture commands that Christians give a mandatory ten (10) percent tithe in order to receive the blessings of God. This is one of the biggest lies in the body of Christ today. As a matter of scripture, the New Testament Church sold their lands and houses and gave the proceeds to the apostles who in turn distributed the money to EVERYONE as they had need (Acts Chapters 3 and 4). There is so much more to say on this topic from the scripture but I will stop here, I think you have gotten the picture. If you disagree with these statements your disagreement is with God's word and not with me. More than likely you probably are not living a santified and consecrated life yourself ie: listening to secular music and watching secular television and movies. Oh and by the way I have ever right to judge because I have taken the beam out of my own eye; I am measuring you by the word of God and; I am spiritual therefore I have the authority to judge all things because I have the mind of Christ. This message has been published for the growth and edification of the body of Christ individually and worldwide. All personal comments may be sent to apostleorlandobethel@yahoo.com Thank you very kindly.

I am a truely blessed person to have heard the words spoken by this man Craig Lewis. I am 13 years old and live in Pontiac, MI. Just these past 2 days, November 10 and 11th I had the pleasure of hearing him speak at WELCOME MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH in Pontiac, MI. This church is around the corner from my home and my bestfriend attends there. She asked me to come and I thought it was gonna be a old man just puttin down hip-hop, but I was sadly mistaken. This man opened and touched so many young lives that its almost scary!!! But whats most scary is that we as a young people and of black culture never realized that its us who are killing are selves. Its sad to say but its true. After the first night he spoke at the church, WELCOME MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, he came out to eat with us at Applebees and he is a real cool guy. What he is doing around the country is great. Jesus is speaking through man to get to us because we have been blind sided by this music and we never knew it. Its so funny because my bestfriend always wears baby phat and rocawear and that night she had on a rocawear jacket on and when he talked about JAY-Z and Kimora I looked at her and she went and put her jacket in the car. When she got home she took out all of her clothes in her closet of all the rocawear and baby phat. When she got done all she had left was PE-PE, APPLE BOTTOMS, PACO, and regular clothes. I am so proud of her. Myself I really dont wear name brand clothes just things that look nice like I wear clothes from OLD NAVY, K-MART, WAL-MART, JC PENNYS, TJ-MAXX, you know regualr clothes. I have only 1 baby phat outfit and 1 rocawear outfit. Now I only have regular clothes because those things are now in the trash. LOL!! So I just wanted to thank G. CRAIG LEWIS, for opening my eyes and mind along with alot of others.
my name is jadesola i'm a nigerian and i must say that God has really used you to touch the lives of we youth.myself and some of my friends too have turned a new leaf because of your message.God bless you sir
I wonder what made someone decide that hip hop cannot be made a bondservant of Christ. Was it hate or fear? Hip hop is a noun, like basketball or restaurant, right?
I'm just curious why the term "hip hop culture" is unredeemable, and why it needs to be entirely thrown out. Hip hop itself doesnt change your heart, the words of the ungodly hip hopper, and your motivations, do, right? How do we decide what is right or wrong as fallen, often mistaken people? How about reading scripture and looking at things objectively, not in impassioned ignorance. (I do not claim to be perfect in this area. Nor should you) If we want to see change in our society, we've got to go back to scripture, and really look at the facts of the history of hip hop. Hip hop was never originally supposed to preach violence and promiscuity, any more than Gospel-sounding music was. (So why aren't people condemning "Gospel culture" as a whole?) Hip hop is not just the images and words we see on TV. As far as physical appearance is concerned, if we don't force native tribal people in other lands to wear suits and ties when we preach the Gospel to them, then why do we try to force this on hip hop people? A thousand years ago that suit would look ridiculous to everyone, and today it has the potential to flaunt wealth and selfishness more than any baggy pants...it's about the heart yall. I only share this because it is our duty as Christ-followers to love and seek the redemption of this world, instead of hating on people. Incidentally, please allow me to remind everyone that the church has heard and seen thousands of people over the centuries who claimed to speak the truth of God, but who were actually propagating lies. There must be some kind of standard, right? What is yours? I would be very glad to hear what others think about this...Thanks, and God bless!
To the individual that made this statement:
"I wonder what made someone decide that hip hop cannot be made a bondservant of Christ. Was it hate or fear? Hip hop is a noun, like basketball or restaurant, right?" You cannot take something that is evil, or authored by evil, put a christian spin on it, and try to change it's appearance to good. Truly you are not paying attention. Please understand that my following statements are not for anything other than to help you come out of ignorance. The devil tries to keep us in ignorance, and he knows that it is written that "My people perish for lack of knowledge". I deal in a deliverance ministry amongst other ministries as God directs, and the one common denominator in all the deliverances is that the demons almost always have legal right to be there. What this means is that the individual that is getting set free did something, listened to something, watched something, or in a lot of cases has items that give the demon license to be there. Anything that isn't authored by God has to be authored by satan. There is no gray area in this. The concept of Hip Hop, if you do your homework, was created from an unGodly, or demonic mind set if you will. Go study up on Afrika Bambaataa, and the connection between Hip Hop and the Zulu Nation, also see now how the Nation of gods and earths are entertwined in Hip Hop and the Zulu Nation. A lot of church's don't teach this, but I'm going to give you a little lesson in demonology. Demon's are for the most part, when it comes to affecting humans, very literal. They know what their legal rights to us are, and they exploit that to the utmost. No matter what Afrika Bambaataa's intentions were originally, he was not the author of this deception satan was and is. Just look at the fruit that the Hip Hop culture has produced. Can you honestly say without any reservations that God has any part in it? I urge you to please do your homework so that you don't perish for lack of knowledge. Thank you Bro. Craig for your obedience to God. Peace and Love Thru Jehovah, The Source, And Yeshua, The Way!
I've wathced the dvd and i think it's really an eye opener. I saw stuff that ia had peviously overlooked and i learned alot
well i have seen the website and i dont really se anythin wrong well. evribody is human and we all sin and i dnt agree that pircing's are a mark of the devil i could agree if u said tatoo's were but... how would you know all those pepole that are in your website are from the free mason you only have proof for some and some times music is a way of expressing our selves.maybe you are juding some people too much i mean i nknow about jay-z but others like cassie and eamon they have done nothing too that you could proove when you get some proof then i will belive it and if piercings are a sughn of the slavery then nearly evyone sins because nearly evryone has them in their ears i hope u can take to mind what i am saying and get more proof before judging certain people init
I agree with you message and no doubt you speak the truth. But I have yet to hear you say what music is acceptable? Do you listen to music if so who? I don't think God would have given us the gift of music for his glory and never meant for us to use it.. So my question is who/what is acceptable .. please enlighten us as we do not wish to grieve the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes we tend to give satan a little too much credit. First of all, to those that believe satan created hip hop, that's not true. Where in the Bible does is give precident to satan creating anything? The enemy is only a perverter of things. The Lord God is the creator of all(Ephesians 3:9). The only thing that the enemy can do is steal, kill, and destroy what we allow him access to by way of our ignorance and lack of understanding. That being said, I do have some serious problems with hip hop culture, but those issues are not with hip hop as much as they are with our ungodly society as a whole. The wickedness that lies within the majority of hip hop culture is just the manifestation of the wickedness of our social culture.I saw the 2nd dvd of G Craig Lewis' series and for some reason, it really vexed my spirit man. I don't believe that it was done with the Spirit of Love. As for the apostle, who wants to justify his ability to judge god's people, God's Word clearly tells to "Judge not, that ye be not judged(Matthew 7:1)". Maybe you don't have any sin(which I seriously doubt) but, I thank God for my precious GIFT of righteousness. It's a very dangerous thing to go about boasting in your own righteousness. As for the anti tither, Jesus addressed tithing in Matthew 23:23 when He told the Pharisees that they should have payed their tithes in addition to the weightier matters of the law. Also we need to understand that tithing was not oringinally an ordinance of the law. Tithing has always been a convenant issue(Gen 14:20 and Gen 28:22) tithing is the works that I add to my faith (James 2:20) to demonstrate to God that He is my source, not my money. I just don't understand how people try to justify giving less to the Kingdom by some old testament/new testament technicality!! It sounds like religious legalism. Where your treasure is, there you heart will be also(Luke 12:34), examine your checkbook register and find out where your heart is!! My heart is committed to financing the preaching of the gospel and I consitently receive a hundrefold return on every financial seed sown into the kingdom. You might not like Crefflo Dollar, but I am a witness and can tesify personally that his teaching is accurate and I have gotten results!!!
After seeing the truth behind hip hop it literally open my eyes to the world it made me relize that what I thought was normal was sinful and against God's word. For whole two weeks I prayed for his forgiveness and bestow his mercy on me. Then I relize the I tried to get closer to God the more the music became tempting and more seductive to me.I took it upon my self to join the christian church and grow within the community and like a wise man said good will always prevail.
Craig, Jay-Z had nothing to do with that Lucifer remix. That is DJ Dangermouse chopping spots in the original song where Jay said the word "Six" "Murder" and "Jesus" completely at separate types. I can do the same thing with my audio equipment in my home. I could rearrange one of your sermons to make you sound like you worship the devil. It's very easy to do. Major artists do not sign off on, or even sometimes listen to underground remixes of their own material.
You made some good points in other cases but dont shoot down the brothas who are doing it right. A lot of us grew up without fathers and people like Jay-Z taught us how to survive.
Craig Lewis is a joke. he uses ignorance to blind the public with his "truth". you might have heard about the whole Jay-Z thing. That backwards message was a joke. ive heard the real lucifer song. the one that Craig talks about was remixed by an underground dj. Jay-Z didnt endorse it. But Craig doesnt tell anyone that. I can disprove all of the arguments made by Craig Lewis. you can reach me at my myspace. Myspace.com/BBakaJJnum22.
Craig,
Thank you so much for enlightening black people about hip hop. It is necessary to inform young black people within the church about the truth. Especially, when there are books such as Micheal Eric Dyson's book, " Know what I mean?" This book glorifies hip hop movement. It has an introduction written by Jay Z etc. Please keep up the good work.
My name is Sonn and mine is more like a question really.I'm a kenyan and i used to listen to hiphop but after watching the DVD on the truth about hiphop i got confused cos if hiphop is a religion like anyother, then why do the people who spread it use only rap to like spread their messegge across?
I think the reason why we identify rap music with hiphop is because we are misinformed cos if they were to use not only rap but other types of music like r'n'b or pop to spread their hiphop religion, then that is when we would be able to diffrentiate rap music from hiphop.
I am a young convert from Grenada, and although we do not have a major challenge among our youths with hip hop, the message that the Lord has given to you Bro. Lewis is sufficient. Thang God and thank you. I want to express one concern though, and i would realy greatly appreciate a response from you on this; I am concerned about the way some christians dress, male as well as female in particular. Like showing of their breaast (cleavage) and so on and the way they disguise themselvel (painting them selves with make up and so on) it seems kinda unreal. Can you please give some enlightenment.
"G.Craig Lewis" I really want to thank you for changing my life. You are a very great teacher and there's no other role model I'd rather have. Best of prayer's to you and your future! By the way Iam from Providence RI. Iam 15 years old and Iam trying to live the life to try and help others see the light of God through me. Keep me in your prayers!By the things you have said and done Iam a new person.

minister G. Lewis, keep on doing the work of God inspite of what people maybe saying about you.
some people voted for Christ to be crucified instead of barnabas who was an evil man....so will some people try to persecute you. the Bible tells us that "many are called but few are chosen" those that God has chosen will hear the truth and accept it but those who are not will persecute you and defend the evil culture of hip hop. but on the judgement day, both hip hop and its supporters will be cast down into the lake of fire. many of us look at the judgement day like its far off...remember, your life could end even today and hence your judgment. repent and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in the way you should go. anything that does not invite the presence of God is not of God and such is hip hop.
in this day and time when ever we needed reassurance from God about the future of our youths was today. i Praise God for wht ahe is doing in your life with the message and the truth. i can truly say it comes from God what other Powers could have done it. I say God gets the Glory wherther we give it to him or not. Halleluia to your message and the convictions and conversions it brings .
TO DEBATE ANYTHING HE IS TRYING TO TELL US IS JUST SAYING HE MADE IT ALL UP HE HAS A MESSAGE FOR THE HEARTS AND MIND OF THE YOUNG TO SHOW THEM THAT MUSIC IS HURTING THEM PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY. JUST PRAY THAT WHAT EVA MESSAGE IT SENDS THAT IT SENDS HOPE AND JOY AND CONVICTIONS TO THEIR HEARTS THAT THEIR THINKINK BE CHANGE. THE MESSAGE IS THEIR, DO NOT BE SORCASTIC OR PUT IT DOWN JUST SUPPORT AND HELP THE YOUTH OF TODAY. ALL IN JESUS NAME
Response to Brando Nix ... G. Craige Lewis is not a joke he is a true follower and believer of Jesus and maybe you fail to realize it but he is highly educated and he is trying to spread the word of God. If you can't mange to appreciate what this man of God does than that's all on you but, you should NEVER get it twisted and call him a joke because he is a chosen man of God and he only shares information that he finds. So, if what you "think" is not the song Jay-Z made find out the facts first before you persecute someone that is obviously highly intelligent. G. Craige Lewis is not and will never be a joke so that comment was out of line and unnecessary. Some Christian believers actually appreciate the works he is trying to do and yet some people try to stop him and persecute him because he is trying to speak out against this ignorant culture of youth and adults who are blinded by the truth of hip hop and these ignorant hip hop artists.
