Many have compalined about Bill Cosby's attack on the Hip-Hop culture - but in the video title mentioned on the blog is the word "Truth" - God is light and truth and we should always try to gravitate toward what is honest. Not all Hip-Hop culture is negative - fashion and music have been driven by the youthful energy of Hip-Hop. I believe what most people find fault with is the underbelly of Hip- Hop which is destructive such as drugs, violence, sexism, and bad language - these things are being hypnotically being consumed by our youth everyday. Would you put poison in your baby's bottle everyday and not expect an adverse effect? Our youth are valuable resources and part of God's body. If we sow the negative into our youth, we will reap bad results. Truth is always prophetic - and our youth actually like hearing the truth when given a chance to listen.
 

It is always good to know that the church have not given up on our young people. This is a difficult group of people to reach, but we can not give them over to the devil. We as grown up have also had to take the journey through youth to reach the age of wisdom. It is through our trials that make us strong. If our young people can be given great Hip-hop christian music with postive messages,we will still be able to captivate our youth, therefore, they won't have to listen to the worldly music. They can self censor themselves from the music that has a negative connotation. I was saved at a young age, was raised up in the church. I love good music with a positive message that is going to move me. For ex: Bee & Cee Winan, Kirk Franklin whom a lot of people talk aboout in a negative light, Mary Mary. We have to give these kids something that is real and yet they are still getting the word of God in their heart. Keep up the good work!
 

Our church service today gave us an even bigger view of the problems that fact our young people. While it is true that many of our young people make bad decisions or hand out with bad crowds, we have to ask ourselves the question of why this is. The young people are mostly doing what they see, and for many of them, their biggest example is what they see at home. If we are to be effective in reaching the young people, we must be effective in reaching their parents. There is a post coming about this soon!

Sir, Kirk Franklin is one of the Ministry Artists Mr. Lewis speaks out against (somewhat) on his DVD.

Why don't we stop doing everything the world does..like using the internet, dressing the same way in any respect, eating the same foods, shopping at the same stores. Please understand The Enemy's craftiness. There is not one alternative or suggestion as to what would be pleasing to Mr. Lewis...or God...for our young people to listen to. I suppose that will all come out in Part 2...soon Mr. Lewis will have enough to invest in bringing this to Hollywood and accepting anyone's money...even Satan's...but the we'd have to go to the movies...guess that would be a worldy thing to do. Hmmmmmm...it just dawned on me...I actually watched Mr. Lewis's presentation on DVD...wonder if Satan had anything to do with those being made...what will I use my DVDto watch once The Truth Behind HipHop is over...guess I'll need to throw away all my movies...except the Left Behind series.

You are right that G. Craig Lewis has some things to say about Kirk Franklin in Part 1 of his DVD, but he also says right after that statement that Kirk himeself said he had made some mistakes in regards to trying to mix the message of Christ with that of the world. I have heard Kirk Franklin say many times that he had to repent for some things. Now, I have also seen part 2 (post to come soon), and there is a question and answer section on the second side of the DVD. One of the things that was asked was, "What can we listen to"? G. Craig Lewis makes it clear that you have to just do your research and make your choices based upon what is found. The real issue behind this is the message that some of these artist promote, not that these artist are not doing "Christian" music.
There is a long conversation about clothes on part 2 and the bottom line to the discussion is that we can not endorse the products of those persons that promote a "antichrist" message. Notice I do not say "that are not saved". We do not know if a lot of people are saved that we buy from, but when we know that someone openly has an "antichrist" message, we, as the body of Christ, should not support that.
 

What the young people need to realize is that no one is trying to make you give up anything. What we,as adults, want you to do is make sure you know what you are standing for. Make sure you know about whose clothes you are wearing,whose music you are listening to,what they stand for, what their purpose is. Everyone likes to look nice and everyone likes the best things, but does having the best mean that you sell out what YOU stand for? No. All we ask is that everyone, young and old, do your research. That doesn't mean that because they are not Christians, we won't buy their clothes, but it does mean if you stand for something that is blasphemy, against God, you will not get support from God's people. We as Christians don't need to compromise with the world. Yes people will talk about what we are doing, and yes it is going to feel uncomfortable, but that is the least we can do to let our Lord and Savior know that we are for real about serving him with our lives. Step out on faith, let God lead you, not the world.
 

We as Christians have a responsibility to make the world a better place. Completely seperating ourselves from everything that is "wordly" makes no sense - we exist in the world. As intelligent and discerning people we should be able be Christians yet exist in the real world. I am not saying that you should participate in everything someone else is doing - but you need to discriminate between what is healthy and what is potentially unhealty or dangerous to yourself or family/ friends - make the right choices. We can not have a positive effect on the world by totally disconnecting ourselves. God has given us freedom of choice. Through his word and sharing with other Christians (and even non-Chrsitians) we gain wisdom. Life is a process of learning sometimes from bad judgement - but being able to learn from mistakes to reach our destiny. You have to beaware of your environment to make the right choices. We do not need to compromise our beliefs - we need to make "real" intelligent decisions in a "real" world.
 

stu from your last comment I can immediately see how close or not close your walk with Jesus is. What you have to ask yourself is this: Am I compromising? The bible makes it clear when it says (1 john 2:15)"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." I just feel it is time not only to stand and be stronger as a body but we have to stop let satan decieve and trick us into believing that just because something doesnt blatantly say "I love satan" that it can be okay to do. We have to live by love, knowledge, and not be blinded by the tactics of the enemy. Its like the gas prices; It's all mental conditioning. Dear Anoymous- We are the "hands and feet" of the body of Christ. We should be purpose ourselves with the guidance of God to improve the envinronment around us and the people we love - and people we do not even know - "love thy enemy". Jesus walked among the "wordly" to make a change. You are right, it does say "love not the world" but it does not say we do not live in it. Jesus believed in truth - and that is what we should strive for. We need to set an example and high standard. There is no mention of the internet or other technologies in the bible - does that mean that the internet is not of God but of the devil - Absolutely not - Our mighty God gave man the ability to develop and create. Has everything that man has created all been for the good - no! Should we educate ourselves and seperate ourselves from all that is destructive and evil - yes! We are not perfect and nothing we can do can make us perfect. Once we have been saved by the grace of God, then we must work with diligence to share his love. We have been empowered by Christ (we have his love and healing powers), there is no devil,demon, or spirit that can harm us as long as we walk with him. God defeated the devil for us!

I'm sure you have heard that 2005 is not the year to be critical of others. it's totally ok to take a stand for Christ. but don't stab anyone else because they are not where you feel they should be.

I thank god for Apostle G.Craig Lewis, because I have part I of the Hip-Hop series where satan has attacked the hip-hop culture and how the "so-called" gospel and christian artist are following in the foot-steps of the world. I've been reading the comments posted concerning G Craig Lewis' video/DVD. ONe thing that stands out to me is the idea of Hip Hop having a positive and negative side. Hip Hop in itself is the devil's scheme. If you research its roots, you'll find that the actual culture is currupt. Miniser Lewis' message was not to expose the negative aspects of HIp Hop, but to expose HIP HOP. I think most people get things mixed up when they consider the different elements in the culture. I mean, what is negative about rap? What is negative about dance? What is negative about creativity? What is negative about expression? I don't feel that any of those things are negative, but what we have to realize is this: HIp Hop didnt give birth to rap. Rap was originated by poetry which was around in the Bible days. But, because Hip Hop uses it as a main element, people feel as though hip hop is rap. But rap, as well as dancing, as well as singing, as well as whistling as well as playing an instrument is a medium of music. We cant give the youth GOOD HIP HOP music- it doesn't exist. This website flat out tells you what Hip Hop is all about and where it came from... in specifics. There's alot of controversy about this message... and, after seeing both pt1 and pt2, i realized that you have to be very prayerful...VERY PRAYERFUl and that we must individually seek HIM, because sometimes, we can miss the point. Also, be praying for the talented gospel artists that have done some compromising. We have a whole world to minister to.... a whole world.. and the road is quite narrow

We have to learn to live in the world but not of the world we were all created to serve God. The internet was made for the goodness of man to utilize as a tool. But just as we have the word of God so does the enemie who uses it the manipulate. All things made by man are just to be used as tools cars, clothes, money etc. Because God made good and evil. Good and Evil was made to merely to test the faith of true believers. "Not everyone that says lord, lord will enter the kingdom of heaven" (Mat 7:21) Where most people go wrong is they put there hearts into things such as clothes, money, cars and their. Then the very thing that God allowed you to have you gave him no glory for so it then becomes a worldly thing.
 

After watching the DVD The Truth About Hip-Hop, I was profoundly moved to participate in the altar call that occurred at the end of the tape. I realized that many of the oppressive spirit that came through the music I used to listen to, like NWA, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane and similar artists, were attached to my life and had never been dealt with . Someone once describe a stronghold as a lie that's stuck in your head. I believe that I was delivered right in my family room from many of the evil spirits that were stuck in my head from rap music that I used to listened to. The DVD takes a much needed honest look at what our young people are ingesting into their very souls when they listen to the music of today. Knowledge is power and ignorance is no excuse. Watch this video and learn the truth about hip hop and other secular music as well as the satanic doctrine that many of these artists believe in and practice to create the music of our culture.
 

As a minister of the gospel thorugh music I found this video absolutely life changing. i think our youth are being greatly decieved and the deception will continue unless we stand for pure holiness. In this day when every excuse it made to say why youth can't stand for holiness we need an even greater move of God to take us back to where we never should've left. For some reason we moved into trying to meet the youth where they are, but they don't need to be where they are so we need to bring them out. Compromise is not the way and G. Craig has made that oh so clear. I praise God for this man of God. Again as a Minister of Music, I had to ask God to remove every worldy chord, song, anything known and unknown as not to bring any of that into the house of God. i want to be pure and holy in all ways and at all times in my praise for him.
 

Within Ephesians the 6th chapter there is a scripture which states "For we wresle not against flesh and blood but against principalities....". This scripture expresses the fact that we as Christians have an enemy that cannot be seen with the natural eye but fights a war in the spiritual realm which manifests itself in the natural. The enemy has used Hip Hip music as a means of destroying a generation of people who are destined by God for greatness. G. Craig has intentioned to take on this attack as a representative of the army of God and as in any war there will be casualties. I encourage everyone who reads this to continue to pray for Min. Lewis as he does this work. We may agree with some things that he says and we may disagree with others but we must all single mindedly agree that his message is one that is absolutely needed in today's generation. Let us also pray that God would bring unity within his body. Min. Lewis often speaks of exposing things in the body of Christ that are not right. I would ask that you all pray that everything that Min. Lewis speaks of will at some point bring the body closer together in the unity of our faith and not divide us. We are already too divided as it is. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. Let us remember this when we are judging another's work. We do not always have all the facts regarding what people choose to do or say. May God bless you all as we continue to fight as soldiers of the Lord.
 

Tonight Minister Lewis ministered in our church via a tape and I was honestly blown away, there were things that I already had some knowledge about but what was brought to me afresh was completely hair raising. He will be ministering at a branch of our church in September and i wasn't going to attend but tonight has brought me to a place where that decision has been changed.
For all of the youths reading this message I hope that you will take that opportunity to look at the message THE TRUTH ABOUT HIP HOP your life would be completely changed. Take it from me.
 

who is the creater of all, who is the beginning and the end. Dose everything not come from God? Or did we all create ourselves? Think about this and don't turn a deaf ear to me and my generation. Quick question: Why were the comments on Tonex, Kim Burrell and other artists that were mentioned on the video (VHS) excluded from the DVD? When I purchased the DVD I was expecting all original contents.
 

as a young christian myself (18). i completely support the message by G. craig lewis. he is one of ourleaders today who will not give us (the youth) the usual watered down, sugar coated mess thats been edited and scanned through so we won't be offended and leave the church never to return. what if i liked heavy metal, does that mean that mean i should go and start and heavy metal christian rock and stick out my tongue like gene simmons and make the sign of the devil w/ my hands all in the name of jesus to draw the youth . NO WAY !!!! and that is simply what this man of GOD is trying to get accros to us, but lately so many are to offended to understand that.If myself and my predominantly young church can understand that then whats really going on.lets not become lovers of ourselves and hate the chatisement of the Lord.

I think that you Mr. Lewis are not preaching a Love message at all, the very thing that Jesus told us as christians that is above all laws. The way that you just bash certain preachers and gospel artist. Is very un called for. I think that you are making a name for yourself and God has nothing to do with it. Truly the way your speaking on how christians should live is to your on selfish standard. You see I know I am saved by grace. And to live in this flesh is a hard thing.For any man. Jesus said you shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU FREE. The bible also tells us that God's people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge. We spend a lot of time and energy trying to understand whether a music "style" is, stand-alone, evil or not. Beloved, it's not the music alone that is the problem. The same music can be used for evil or good. What is important is the message the music is designed to convey. If a song that is sung by the "senior choir" is also performed by a Christian rapper, does the song become evil? Does the message change? What do we say to the young person who sleeps while the choir is singing but is paying attention while the rapper is bringing the same message? Christian rappers and Hip-Hop artists would have no talent if God had not given it to them. Let's stop arguing about music styles and start teaching our children the Word of God. Let's stress providing positive role models, not just in music, but in every aspect of our lives. Let's teach and help them to hide God's Word in their hearts so that sin wil not prevail.
 

I would like to thank Jesus Christ for all knowledge and wisdom that is in the Bible. I just recently watched the dvds by minister G.Craig Lewis. I was enlightened by the truth that was revealed through the ministry. We, as Christians can not be like the world, by conforming to the ways of this world. We may live in this world but the truth is the truth, and the Word of God is the truth. You have to be careful what you put and allow in your spirit, and we have to guard our eye gates and ear gates, because what you allow in will eventually come out whether it is good or bad. I pray that Jesus Christ continues to be exalted through the ministry, and that souls are saved to the kingdom of Heaven. We have to walk in love and in wisdom, and through Jesus Christ we can do all things.

I believe that Craig Lewis is right because alot of church people and or christians have been just going with the flow of secular things. Secular is without God. They've been embracing hiphop which is another religion and supporting the music and clothing, of the hip-hop artist. The people who reject the message that God gave Craig Lewis just want to compromise with the world and continue doing that they know aren't right. As Christians we're supposed to die to our flesh. We're supposed to want more of Jesus and less of ourselves.The bible says in Proverbs, in all of your getting you are supposed to acquire an understanding. The Bible also says, we are perculiar people. In I Corinthians 11 the apostle Paul says, be ye follower of me, even as I am of Christ. How can people follow Christ if they're following the world, we're supposed to lead them. I'm young and I believe the church don't have to compromise to reach the world. Come on church let us reach them through God's way and not the hip-hop way.
 

1) Mr. Lewis' "history of hip hop" is wrong. It's filled with errors. For the record, Bambatta did NOT create hip hop.

2) Every culture on the face of this planet has begun, has come out of, paganism and sin. Mr. Lewis says that hip hop is evil, but that's not even Biblical becase only PEOPLE have the capacity for good or evil, no THINGS. But, if hip hop were evil, that would make every culture on the face of this planet evil, hence we would have to move out of America and it's slavery origins. We'd have to give up our ethnic cultural backgrounds! We'd have to speak one language because our cultural language is evil. And all that is just plain silly.

3) While I agree that the state of secular rap music and the secular components of the culture are controlled by the enemy, I 100% disagree that the culture itself is inherently evil. I take the good and reject the bad. I encourage you to do the same.

4) You are fooling yourselves, and turning a blind eye, to the fact that every one of your youth, and some of your adults too, know every word of every secular rap song out. They know them by heart, even the pastor's kids...if they're old enough. LOL We need to offer them alternatives for their creative outlets. Secular rap music is killing our kids. Rap music that is glorifying Christ is an alternative.
 

A while ago I viewed two DVD's that were preached by G.Craig Lewis. It was the topic discussion pretaining to HIPHOP. I first would like to say before starting, is that at times before we go to people,saints or nonsaints we most first establish with God that if the information we are gathering is true..and worth bringing to the altar. When viewing this DVD he said several tings that disturbed me. First he addressed pastors being in music videos, my comment on that is simply this. I saw the video with Dr Cerflo Dollar standing in front of his church. Now the video was a ludacris video talking about Atlanta, GA.along with some of the things you will find there, in no shape form or fashion did creflo Dollar in anyway misrepresent himself or his congregation in what he was doing. He simply put himself in the video as a representation of a pastor that resides in Atlanta. He also made refrences to hiphop music and how it doesnt belong in the church, and how gospel rap isnt of god, well god will take anything thats unclean and make it clea.....we were once dirty but god made us clean..As well as he will make clean the music we do. He once said that in the second DVD i viewed he said he casted out over 40 something demons on this one guy from new kids on the block, and he said there was one demon left, and it wouldnt come out unitl gospel music was played in the back...well in that case for me to cast out a homosexual demon i should play a heterosexual love story like gone with the wind....the point im making is that god doesnt require a middle man.....in the book of matthew jesus casted out a legion of demons out of a man and sent it to the swine...now keep in mind it was a legion not one by one..wehen jesus using the power and the name of god casted the the demons out that man all of the demons came out...it shouldnt take you 40 prayers and a gospel track to cast out demons from one man when in the name of jesus they should all come out at once. he also made refeence to mase, well mase is called by god and for us to judge him we are out of order, god gives people assignments that many will not comprehend in the natural...it is our duty to seek it in prayer, but i belive that mase is called and god has him on an assignment and we must all allow god to work through him and allow him to be a vessel, for the use in the kingdom of god... I for one am a servant of christ and reside in his kingdom. I belive we all reached a time where we need to take the gospel to the streets, go to the strip clubs go to the bars and go inside inviting people to church isint enough...we must bring to them the gospel.....jesus told his disciples to go to the world and make disciples of all nations...he did not say invite them to church. I belive me as a gospel rapper belives that today one way of reaching the youth is throught what there interests are....young people today thnk church is boring and they are missing out on an opportunity and a whole different world they havent stepped into..through gospel rap I also beleive we can also reach the secular artists who are also lost and knew only the rap music, and is the only way we can reach them.....we must also understand that the devil is beneath us and he has no power over us as the saints the world belongs to the devil but he is also limited in power and he doesnt control the saints..we are not under his control.Iam here to say that if u are called of god step into your calling even if tis gospel rap music...God starts with a dreamer.....when joseph had a dream his brothers hated him. and many will hate u also but in all keep doing gods will.....peace and god bless

Here I am, a youth, reading what men like Lewis have conspired against God's tools... YEAH! I SAID IT, GOD'S TOOLS. Just like the devil distorts God's intention with sex, some man are distorting the intention of hip hop.
Peep this: where did hyms originate from? Men of God need to learn to open their mouths when inspired by God to tell the truth, and not to air an opinionated agenda.
Do not make christianity a strugle-or-you're-doing-nothing-religion. I can tell from some of the tones here that you don't know any better. So I will help you out, YES! God is ok with us being happy, and dancing, all to His glory... even with hip hop. Remember David's boo? She told him not to dance, remember that? Check the text you'll know what I'm talking about.
Saying we're giving in to the world is as abserd as saying we should run around in lion skin because guess what, "the world" came up with suits and ties. It just occured to me that one of my favourate christian appologetics authors is named Lewis... that sucks! Why should that name be associated with this (as Solomon would put it) fool.
Lets stick to the script and not sweat the technic. God can use hip hop, just like He is using the intrnet, TV, and/or radio.

I have listened to Minister Craig Lewis and found many errors in his definition of Hip Hop and that it is analogous to the anti-Christ and/or evil. He maintains that he has studied Hip Hop and its effect on the youth for 14 years. The basis of these statements indicates his lack of knowledge (firsthand or otherwise) about the real Hip Hop. He asserts that Zulu Nation created Hip Hop; however, Kool Herc is the individual credited for paving the way for Hip Hop. He also states that the word “hip-hop” is derived from the word poh pih backwards, which is a Greek mathematical equation. Unfortunately, that is another erroneous statement. Anyone can arrive at or attach well-meaning words and actually have no etymological bearing. Quite easily, individuals can mistakenly mislead others and make any word fit their needs and/or agenda.

If an individual decided that placing the letters in reverse had some credence then some words would be abominable. Take for instance, “live = evil and God = dog”. Additionally, if a parent decided to name their female child “Inja” because it sounded nice and exotic, most would not know that translated it means dog in another language (isiZulu). If the parent were aware that the translation is dog, I am very certain the child would not be named that. Today, many young people and sometimes older, name their children after entertainers or whatever is the trend. If you research a particular era you will find that in the 90’s many Black girl’s names had suffixes of -isha and -qua. In days gone by that was unheard of. In biblical times, children were given names that had meaning and spiritual significance. Some cultures still practice this (African, Jewish, Asian) but as more and more cultures become westernized, they are losing one aspect that also brought our children closer to God and that was their name.

Minister Lewis does not have concrete evidence that will make his statements accurate. Most people are not schooled in the ways of Hip Hop. I have been into Hip Hop (which by the way is not the original term) for the last 31 years and I have participated (rapped, DJ, danced etc) and later observed and studied the growing trend, allure and destructive aspects of Hip Hop. I do agree that Hip Hop has changed adversely in the last 20 years, but it is not the Anti-Christ (evil in origin) as Minister Lewis suggests. If that was the case then December 25, Christmas (which originally was a celebration of the sun god Mithra along with other pagan gods) should not be celebrated because it has its origins rooted in evil (a false god). I recommend taking the good and discarding the bad like any other subject. There are many positive rappers, which comprise only a part of the many branches connected to this tree called Hip Hop. Now, I do believe that the face of Hip Hop (Rap in particular) needs to change for the better along with many other forms of music such as R&B, heavy metal, rock etc.

I believe that Minister Lewis is perpetrating a prevarication (lie) on the youth to promote and sell DVDs and shows. Instead, our energy should be directed as a movement to uplift and change the direction that Hip Hop is going in and not to try to destroy a music form that the youth (Black youth) created. The music (not all) is not and was not what Hip Hop was intended to be. However, just as anything in this world can start as a good thing but in the hands of greedy, misdirected, ungodly individuals can become tainted and destructive. Minister Lewis should really concentrate on ensuring that his facts are accurate. When Jesus (Yashua) was here he did not go to the so-called righteous but went to the sinners to lift them up and to bring sinners into the truth, not to tear them down. In addition, if Minister Lewis is preaching the Bible then he should recognize this one, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
 

it saddensme to hear believers war aganst other believers on this topic of hiphop music. it is impossible to justify this philosophy biblically. what has happen is that people think of christian hiphop as an alternative to secular hiphop. this is wrong. christian hiphop is the answer to secular music. just like how christ is the answer for sin. christian music competes not with secular but glorifies god. thats like saying traditional gospel competes with r n b. plus a lot of traditional gospel songs r very unbiblical in their lyrics..but no one speaks on that. its about content. many christian artist have no biblibal based content. now thats the problem..not what tupe of music.
 

G Craig Lewis is on the money. The proof is in the pudding. Check out the evidence. I never could fully understand "EAST" against the "WEST" until I watched the two videos by Bro. Lewis. And if you give sincere thought to two hip-hop artist fighting and the end result is both are dead (BIGGIE SMALL & Tupac) is a shame when they both had the world by the tail.

Do you think they went to heaven? let's keep it real. If they repented and surrender to Christ prior to death, then heaven is where they are.
 

I think that this man Lewis is,not necessarily wrong just under a bias conception. I agree with alot of things he said, like the power of music and that you have to watch what you listen to. But to go and say that all people who do hiphop are worshiping the devil is just ignorance. How are you going to justify sayng that? by all the secular artists? of course they are not saved, the bible says that you cant serve two masters...But the christians who are into hiphop are wrong too?
and then to say that anyone who is dressing like a hiphopper is of the devil. WHAT? Ok there are exceptions but if a dude grew up in a ghetto demographic he is going to adopt the style there, regardless of what he sees on tv. You dont see them trying to dress like Korn they will get beat down.
I'm not trying to raise no ruccus i'm just saying not everything you hear is correct and true, pray and ask God what you should believe. I dont know where he got his info from, the internet, because we know EVERYTHING on the internet is true. YEA RIGHT. Just be careful the end times are here and there will be false prophets who can quote the bible front to back, AND I'M NOT SAYING MR. LEWIS IS A FALSE PROPHET, but how do i know. I dont think he is I just think that he had an opnion and found stuff in the bible that complemented it. the bible says eat drink and be merry... in no way does that mean we can get drunk and party, just stay away from it. Its really sad to see many of you come on here and try to debate Minister Lewis about his message from God. You have accused him of trying to sale DVDs and make a name for himself when he is really putting forth a message that the world needs to hear. Sure you can debate certain facts and this and that to JUSTIFY WHY YOU DONT WANT TO GIVE UP YOUR MUSIC, but the overall picture is that satan has used this music to corrupt so many people and its not even funny. People are corrupted to the point now where they are try to fix the truth to meet their sinful ways. If you truly want to be free you should open your heart and ask Jesus what this means for your life instead of trying to come up with excuses to defend WRONG!!! If you are wrong you are wrong and its so sad to see the people sugar coat and bounce around to get their own truths.

you people are ignorant as HELL. I am and was raised as a christian and yes I believe in God not that WHITE GOD all of you have been brainwashed to accept, but my own perception of God. The supreme being father and creator of all. That Minister clearly has no idea of what he is talking about. HIP-HOP gives knowledge of self and awareness. Also the majority of HIP-HOP artist strongly belive in god which makes it a spiritual. there is obviously flaws in hip-hop but there is also a good and positive side in it. So instead of wasting time saying hip-hop is wrong and develish. We should focuse on the positive aspects of it.
 

I have viewed the DVD with my bible study group, all saved teens and all into Hip Hop until now. Their lives and relationships are much better now, having thrown away 'worldly things' (Hip Hop). Instead of Hip Hop, they focus on Gospel and Praise and Worship CD's. My question is: why is everyone trying to argue with the lukewarm crowd such as Anonymous. Say what you have to say, back it up with the Word and then wipe the dust off your feet. Don't respond to those who want to compromise by trying to prove your point. Just pray for them and go on. Speak what the Lord tells you to speak and be done with it.

I saw the DVD for the first time ever, and let me tell you, it shook up something in me and my husband.

I knew when I first got saved, that the first thing to go out the door was hip-hop. But I never understood why. I was just so glad to be saved, I would have giving up everthing to follow Christ. Thats no option, because I love the Lord and I am willing to learn all that I can, to be effective in this walk for God.

I suggest to all people, get to know Jesus Christ our Savior and we will not fear the world...

There is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice.

We have to look at how he confronted the issue also. Did he go to his brothers and sisters and talk to them before making them a public spectacle.He has so many Christian artist on his website that he is condemning. IS THAT THE WAY JESUS TAUGHT US TO HANDLE SITUATIONS? NO, NO, NO. There is order to everything. His approach was wrong and to say that all Christian rappers are bad is ignorance. I know many Holy-Spirit filled ministers of Christian Hip-Hop. Mr. Lewis makes a public spectacle of "Ambassador" on his website by playing "Ambassadors" quotes about what he believes in. Not one time did I hear him say let's pray for him. He only laughed. Just because one Christian Hip-Hop artist has different beliefs than him does not catagorize every Christian hip-hop artist. P.S. a lot of people have not researched the word Hip-Hop or its roots. We should not condemn them for that ignorance but teach them the truth. Have you researched where “MIMES” originated from, many praise teams mime in the church, or the actual “Church building” mentality came from? I will not condemn you but pray that God leads you to the truth.

(Psalm 19:14)First of all, before we mention the name of Jesus in any comment, we need to pray for the wisdom of God and His love so that we can say what's in our hearts and still be pleasing to God. In regard to Minister G. Craige Lewis and the message he is teaching, I agree with the Word of God and I believe he has been inspired by God's word. Of course if Hip-Hop (or anything else)has a stronghold on you, you will stand up for it and defend it. But I just know that God is my stronghold and I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and I take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Cor 10:5). If you read the Word FOR YOURSELF, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you and when He convicts you, you respond in a way that pleases God, you will know how to discern what is of God and what's not. If you disagree with something, first look to the Word and see if it's something God agrees or disagrees with. Your opinion should always be based on God's word. It's not about you or what you think. The truth is the truth regardless of your acceptance of it. God is the I AM regardless of if you confess it or not. Jesus is the Savior of the world-regardless of your personal opinion. It all boils down to what GOD says in His word. It is what it is-but YOU just need to be concerned with walking uprightly before God in all your ways and making sure that God is pleased with EVERYTHING that YOU do. Be faithful to God, available (in total submission to HIM), and teachable (be sensitive to spiritual instruction and submit to the Holy Ghost!). Your first teacher is the Holy Spirit. READ THE WORD OF GOD FOR YOURSELF and allow the Holy Spirit to correct you. We're human, we NEED God to correct us- we were born into sin. The first thing we knew to submit to was our flesh, but we are born again in the Spirit of Christ, so we must learn to walk in the Spirit. Know what is Holy and what is Unholy-allow Jesus to show you by His Spirit.

Hello everyone and Grace and Peace be unto you from Our Heavenly Father. I'm not here to debate I just want to share my experience with ex-ministries. Elder Lewis visited my city this past week and he revealed many of the devil's schemes in using hip-hop. I really was excited because he revealed many of the devices that our generation ismany times ignorant to. Their are some things during his ministry, where IKNow hestepped out of line. First of a ll you shuld never judge another Christian. NEVER! It's o.k. to say whether or not you agree with a person or not, but to directly judge another Christian is completly out of order.The sad part was that it was around unbeleivers. Which shows lack of Unity in our church. Elder Lewis went on to say that it was o.k. because in the New Testament church,Paul judge Peter for sinning. NO! Paul pointing out to Peter that he was being hypocrtical, he wasn't flat out bashing him every where he went. The bible clearly says "Touch not mine Anointed". After being asked about this scripture Elder Lewis says that it was because David was their to take Saul's life and that's why God told him that, so that he wouldn't set a precident of killing kings for the throne. Which is true, BUT, God had said this about Abraham in Gensis,and since David knew his Pentatook(the first 5 books of the bible) the words became when he was faced with the situation. The Lord ministered to David right out of his Word. And God told him to "Touch not mine Anointed". Scripture says that one day w will judge angels and when are allowed to judge the world as kings and preist, but to judge another Christian is to basically judge the blood of Jesus.It's saying that "even though they are saved I still ain't gone listen to them because they still sin. Who doesnt!? I'm not saying a lfestyle of sinning, please don't get me wrong, but as a human on this earth we are all susceptable to sin . No matter who you are! I'm not givig anybody a liscense to sin and say oh,well God will forgive me, but to remind everybody that none is completely righteous,no not one. Not even our gospel artists and leaders.. because they are still human. The thing to remember is they are under th blood of Jesus,so to judge them is to judge the blood. To go as far to bash other ministries is just biblically unsound. Think about it, if we are going to dismiss music because gospel artists are not perfect then we shouldn't read Psalms or Proverbs because David and Solomon were Fornicators. We shouldn't read most of the New Testament because Paul was a brawler and had a problem with his temper. We shouldn't read the Law because Moses was a murderer, you get my drift? Like I said I beleive everything he was saying about the worldly rapers and artists, but to judge other Christians and other ministries is just somehthing I don't agree with. It's biblically unsound. I have nothing against Elder Lewis, nor ex-mnistries but I don't agree with some of hsis staements and judging. Oh yeah and as far as Christian Rap, elder Lewis says he has nothing against Christian Rap but that it's when the church tries to embrace the whole Hip-Hop culture(Beliefs,ideas,biases etc....). Which is understandable because the beliefs and biases of hip-hop are contradictory to the Word of God. BUT PLEASE don't write off gospel rap as evil. Let the Lord help you discern. If the artists are totallyy glorifying God then there is no issue. But to glorify self and things of this world, then that's another story. Gospel Rap was one of the outlets God used to reach me, so I KNOW that it is a tool of ministry. Young People listen up... As a man whose spent most of my life (since age 7) in church. A man whose been on drugs for over 20years of my life. A man whose married and has four children. A man whose struggled just to maintain and work out my own soul salvation with fear and trembling. A man that, because of the choices I made, had to suffer the consequences of my sins. A man who now writes this blog - delivered, set free and released from the grips of addiction and sin; I want to share something with you.
The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion (1 Cor 14:33). That is the only reason why I have an issue, not with Jay-Z but with the X-Ministries! It is not for me to label Jay-Z as anything he didn't say he was. One thing is for sure, he is a sinner, as we all are born into sin as a result of Adam and Eve sinning in the garden. The Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Again it says that, We are saved by grace, through faith, we didn't do it ourselves - not by works - it is the gift of God - least any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9). I'm simply saying that if it hadn't been for God's grace and mercy, sending his Son to die for our sins, there would be no way we could even get to heaven. To break it down further, I'm no better than Jay-Z, I'm just a sinner - saved by grace. Here's the difference. Because I confessed with my mouth and believed in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead (Rom 10:9), I have a savior I can turn to when I get weak or if I fall.
See young people, I'm a Christian - which means Christ-like. My goal in life is to strive to be like him in my walk and my talk and continue to strive towards Christ likeness until he returns.
Here is where I got the jump on non-believers. I know you have fun while you're out doing whatever it is you do in life, I can't deny that (I did it too) but I know that fun don't last forever. If it did, I would've never stopped being a sinner. I was that first (Psalms 51:5). Therefore, I know what it is like to be you (those who don't know Christ as their Lord and Savior) but you have no clue on what its like to be me. I'm saved, sanctified, filled with the Holy Spirit, set apart, renewed, peace, joy, love, happiness. No, I'm not rich, nor do I have it made. Yes I struggle too but Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives All fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living Just because He lives.
That brings me to Brother Lewis. Everything a real man of God or prophet says should be verifiable in the word of God. For example (and I know this is a long blog but bear with me and keep reading). The Bible says, in 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verses 25 through 27 - That the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than man (verse 25). Now Paul wrote that and if you know anything about Paul, oh you don't? Let me school you young people. Paul was a man who persecuted Christians before God grabbed a hold of his life. He was educated from the finest schools, he knew the law better than most and he wasn't poor either. He was a Christian murderer his purpose in life was persecuting Christians (read how he was converted in Acts chapter 9) - the last type of person you would expect to write the majority of the New Testament. He had money, wealth and power (sound familiar?). I'm simply saying that Jay-Z has the opportunity, like you and I do, to become an ambassador for Christ. In fact, Man looks on the outward appearance but God judges the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
I do gospel rap. I take the songs that are being played right now, strip the words, and put God's word all up in it as an alternative for you young people to listen to. It is not the music but the words we hear. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17) or simply put, what you put in is what you get out!
This man, this Craig G Lewis dude, is creating confusion and God is not in that! Don't attach him or his message to Jesus Christ the son of the living God! If he were on point, what this man is saying would match up with scripture. It wouldn't be bashing an individual or a culture (Hip Hop) but he would be bashing SIN and the power and craftiness the enemy has over ANYBODY and EVERYBODY who hasn't been saved - YOU BE THE JUDGE OF YOUR LIFE! Jesus had dinner with the sinners, he never excluded anyone and he died for everyone, so that we all might have a right to eternal life! That should be the brother's message. That should be every preacher's message! That's the Real Deal! Quit bashing each other with comments or posts, get a relationship with the only one who can help you sort through your own life. Here's the devils trick (he comes to steal, kill and destroy - John 10:10). While we're debating over this so called minister or Jay-Z or this religion or that one or this small church or mega church, guess who we're not focused on - OURSELVES. If the devil can keep you occupied with things that don't have anything to do with you getting closer to God, he'll let you get rich. He'll get you a record deal, he'll let you sling drugs, he'll let you get educated. You can get the video, the cars, the fortune and the fame. You can do anything in this world and attain all that it has to offer. The Bible says though, For what profits a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul (Matthew 16:26).

Personally, I feel Craig Lewis is just trying to make a name for him self. He has failed to mention the Bible (a few of it's books within) are a form of Hip Hop if you were to set it's poetry to music, hip hop is a form of poetry set to music, which in most cases music/songs are set to lyrical poetry. However, G. Craig Lewis is right there isn't Holy Hip Hop, but there is Holy Music- Music that spreads the Gospel of Christ. It is only that matter of changing a defining name. These are the known forms of music; Alternative, Pop, Hip-Hop, Country, R&B, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Latin, and Electronic as defined in the settings of AOL Christian/ Gospel , the message of God and the teachings of Christ Jesus can be presented in all these forms.

He also fails to say that God is the creator of all things. Everything has a purpose, how we as flesh (man) use and present them is the issue. Yet he has played songs backwards and found demonic information, take the same song and play it backwards for yourself and find out. Why is he the only one?

Yet, he's pointed fingers at other pastors and bishops. But, he twists his research and has stated some inaccurate statements. How do I know this I went behind him to seek out the information myself. My father (Earthly) and the Heavenly taught me to believe nothing of what I hear and only half of what I see. I must do the research myself before I accept someone's views. I also must seek a spirit of discernment in every situation.

Now, the devil was an angel of music, but God is the one who created him and God created music. There is music that serves God's purpose and music that serves the devil's purpose, and music that serves man's purpose.



So, will he start telling us not to purchase the Inspired By… The Bible Experience. Because of the actors who are on it. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We are to spread the Gospel.



I say to Craig, be mindful my brother for God knows the heart of every man. And judgment is His not ours for we are to act out of love, the glory is His. Have you learned anything about the weeds and the wheat, or do you plain to destroy the harvest. By trying to twist the words of people you only add to the devils plot. We must act in truth, and learn to present Gods presence in Music, Television, Film, Books, Internet, and every form of media that pops up. I found that even the unsaved will try to profit from God's word, yet will be left barren. We most learn to present the alternative, instead of attacking. I say that because we only give support in controversy, making the wicked more money. "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12). I say to young people there is an alternative to 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Piddy, and the other side of Hip Hop. We have Tha Truth, Cross Movement, T-Bone, and so many more that do it to spread the Gospel and further the Kingdom.



"He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:6).







Yet, you attack God's plan because you lack vision and move through sight. Just as they did Christ in the church when he came, you lead and move by sight my brother. Stop and see God's vision, and not your own.

i agree about 99.5% with brother craig about hip hop and all the contents of all the 3 dvds , Im a young christian music producer that used to claim hip hop as if it was a good thing, I thought that it was the way i could identify myself with today's culture while being a Christian.
all because i didn't know what was behind it, and certain influences that had an effect on me, such as getting a little violent, cursing, desiring things that are not of the Spirit, but it was because hip hop was influencing me to do this things, this spirit of hip hop glorifies sin and is not of God.
im still a rapper but not a hip hopper but this is what a lot of people don't want to understand is that they are not the same thing, rap stands for Rythm And Poetry, hip hop is a spirit that was born in hell. we need to take a stand specially us young people that have gifts, strenght from God, talents, and wisdom. i use what i have to serve God and for the benefit of the souls, im washed by the blood of Jesus, and i believe that im lead by the Holy Spirit, and believe in the Holy Scriptures 100% no doubt.hip hop is not of God and i will support brother Craig as long as he keeps preaching this message, that is delivering people around the globe from this hip hop spirit, lets keep this brother in prayer, he is a man and has weaknesses like everybody else.
