As I was reading today I came across an interesting article that talks about some stars that are putting up big money to promote a cosmetics company. That, in and of itself, does not seem like a big thing, but one of the comments made in the article really stood out to me,
"I had seen the product and I thought it was a new category that could be introduced," Stoute told the paper. "Our voice should be able to control and manage it for the marketplace." I found it interesting that there is a realization that all that needs to happen is that a product be endorsed by someone with the right "Voice" and people will buy it. In the body of Christ, I think we need to ask ourselves what "Voice" we are sending. Are we trying to sell our "Voice" or are we pushing the "Voice" of God. The scripture says, "If I be lifted up...", unfortunately I think we lift up more of ourselves than we do God. If you want to check out the article, you can find it here
Comments:
For those who decided not to take an upclose look at the article, please know that one of the "voices" that will be used and inevitably heard is that of rapper jay-z (no caps needed). On a personal note I would like to say that when ever I see or here of this man, my spirit becomes immidiatly vexed. What he represents, speaks and depicts is completely contrary to God and his plan for humanity. I noticed this as soon as received salvation and the Gift of the Holy Spirit. I was able to here his music with "different ears" and once I heard it for what it was I got rid of it straight way. Anything this man puts his hand to is to be closely scrutinized (through the Holy Spirit). Parents I urge you to teach your children the dangers of not only the hip-hop culture, but specificly the idolitry of jay-z as well as other rappers. But keep in mind that Sean Carter (jay-z) as well as every other hip-hop entertainer who has not given their life to Christ is still a creation of the Most High and we should make sure that we keep them in prayer and specificly intercede for them that God would intervene in their lives just he did ours and showed us grace, even to salvation. Peace and Blessings,
I am glad that you bring up the idea of us praying for those persons that have not made Christ the head of their life. Many times we have so much to say about the "sinner", but we offer them very little help. Our lives should be a reflection of the love of Christ, and it is that love that should cause us to pray for those like Jay-Z. I just continue to seek God, that those with a true heart for the people of God (even those living in sin), will be given the platform to minister to these "voices" that are shouting at our young people.
The real question that we need to ask ourselves is, "Why is their voice so much more powerful than ours"? I think that it has to do with the lack of fruit that the body of Christ produces in the eyes of the world! The world does not want what we have because many of us do a poor job of putting out the "good news" of a life with Jesus. The news that we put out is often "depression news". I look forward to those in the body of Christ that are willing to allow their testimony to change lives and show that serving God is better than serving the world!
I feel you WOF! The other day I was having a discussion with a group of young men who God gave me the opportunity to share just that with. I was able to encourage them through my testemony and at the same time show them that even though I'm not perfect, God still blesses me in abundance mainly because of my obedience to what he tells me to do (even the hard stuff). I have my own opinion concerning why the world does not look to the Body of Christ for various things. I agree with you entirly, but there's more to than that. In addition to us not properly sharing the glorious gosple of Jesus Christ with people, we sometimes have a tendancy to misrepresent Him as well. By that I mean the bingo, the smoking, the occaisional cussing out of the unsaved and etc. In a nut shell, we compromise our salvation and the posibility to be a TRUE LIGHT for the sake of pleasing our Adamic nature (the flesh). I believe that the Spirit of Elijah, manifested in true men and women of God must come forth and minister a RIGHT NOW message of repentance and holly living in order for the Body to get itself together. Of course it will take more than that, but I think that's a good start. Come on people of God, I challenge you all to live blameless, not only before God, but before man! Set a goal for yourselves, and lead some people to repentance and ultimately to Christ and his glorious salvation! Peace and Blessings,
We have to remember that alot of people in the entertainment business are not saved. So why be surprised of what they do or say. Alot of them are saved and still do some off the wall stuff. Just like the people that aren't in the entertainment buisiness like people that go to church on Sundays. If you don't read and renew your mind you're not going to change. Let's not judge people, let's pray for one another because we all fall short. Nobody is perfect. Sometimes we know to do right but we do wrong. Entertainers are the same as non entertainers. Some people just dont know. Are people perish because of the lack of knowledge.Just like when they get awards, they thank GOD first, some of them don't know anything about GOD, that's just the right thing to say and do because everybody else say it. These people are trying to make more and more money and they're right, with the right voice and face they will sell this product because so many people want to look like the people they see on TV. These are entertainers, that stand for enter into the secular world so I can tain you and train you to be like me. That mean changing GOD's perfect creation. The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just. Prayer changes things.
