Do we Understand What Love Is?

Love is one of those topics that gets a lot of "air-time" in the church, but as we have been teaching on this subject, the response that we have been getting shows that many people in the body of Christ do not really have a full understanding of what Love is. So in the spirit of this transparent site. I want to give you the opportunity to "Sound Off" on this subject.
"What is Love?

Comments:
LOVE IS GODS LOVE- THE LOVE HE SHOWS AND GIVES US!

The scripture does teach us that God is Love - however, there are many people in the body of Christ that clearly do not understand this. We get the "unconditional" love of God mixed up with the "sensual" love of our flesh.

Love is the ability to show the same kindness and mercy to your brother/sister and show it to the one person that is trying to make your life miserable. God allows it to rain on the just as well as the unjust. But it is sooooo hard to do this.

Why do you think that it is so hard to do this, and what do you think can be to lift the burden?

I believe that it is so hard to love our enemies because we were all born into sin therefore we have a natural urge to do what isn't right. and since God gave us a free will of our own, we can choose whether or not we do what is right. So when someone comes along our path and offends us we have a natural urge to vindicate ourselves. And we only feel the conviction to forgive from a growing relationship with God.

The urge to vindicate is stronger b/c many of have been sinners much longer that we have been follewers of Christ.

Secondly, God can lift the burden of forgivness. I mean what can I do to this person in comparison to God-nothing. So I am going to allow God to take care of it therefore m yburden is lifted and now I am free to love this person b/c I gave the issue to God.

Yes, it so natural to want to vindicate a wrongness that has been afflicted on you, because of the hurt you feel inside.

Do you feel that the hurt will go away if you confront the person involved. Or should you just, "Allow God to take care of it"

Sally,

I feel that you need to be led by God. If there is something on your heart and the one that offended you is going to be around you alot; you should seek God and ask if you should approach them. If yes, then you should ask for the words to effectively speak to them by saying what you feel without felling what you say.

If God would like you to let it go, then pray that he aids you in this release of forgivevness. I think remembering that he forgave my freely helps. Because what if God chose to hold on to all the offenses we've done against him.

Love is God and God is love. It's that simple. If you do not have love in your heart you dont belong to GOD. You can't say you are a child of GOD and don't have LOVE. God has the kind of Love that is unconditional(AGOPE) no matter what you do he will never leave you nor forsake you, now that's love. If somebody do something to us we want to leave them, hurt them and try to detroy them, but that's man/humans. GOD is on a total different level, a level we're trying to be on as christians and believers.
