Tuesday, July 05, 2005The Gifts of The Spirit
Of the many things that we find to debate in the body of Christ, I think the "Gifts of the Spirit" are one of those things. I find it amazing how the same people who do not agree with one particular gift believe whole heartily in others. What are your thoughts on the gifts of the spirit? Do you wish that there was more teaching on the subject? Let us know!

Can you tell me where the bible discusses the gifts of the spirit? Also what does it mean when people say let the holy spirit guide you? Help me out holla
Sure, I will start with you first questions. One of the main text that I would suggest you study about the gifts of the spirit is found in 1 Corinthians 12. Once you check that out, post back any questions that you may have. In response to your next questions, allowing the spirit to guide you simply means that you allow God to govern your words, thoughts, and actions. We are to walk in the spirit (Galations 5:16)in order to not allow the "flesh" to have control. Allowing the spirit to guide you is a step of faith, because at that point God is in control!
I look forward to hearing more from you.
Yes I do wish that there was more teaching on the subject. There are some segments of the Body that teach a doctrine that is totaly inconsistent with the word of God. The gifts of the spirit are not "salvation indicators", however the fruit of the spirit is. And these segments will lead you to believe that if you do not function in a certain gift, then you are not saved. I was a victim of this doctrine and for a short period of time, I was quite damaged. I thank God for revalation and healing as I was able to move forward in truth, but there are some who still subscribe to this misinterpritation of scripture and are being mislead in the process. I believe that it is our responsibility to simply preach, proclaim and teach the word in an unadulterated mannor. I challenge those who belive that an individual is not saved unless they "speak in tongues". I challenge you to not only prove it with the scriptures, but I challenge you (once you realize your errors) to begin to proclaim the truth of the matter (spirit lead of course) regardless of how many "church big shots" you may offend. I've done it and it feels great to not only be free from bondage of this traditional doctrine, but to be able to say, "this is truth!" and not be intimidated by the "big dogs" in the church. God Bless you and remember to always be Spirit lead and to do all things in Love.
I agree with "Church Hurt, God Healed" because many pastors do tech that tongues is a sure way of not only determining whether or not your saved but it is THE way you can determine if a person "has" the Holy Ghost.
A tree is truly recognized by it's friut.
Simple Scripture answer to the question "that an individual is not saved unless they 'speak in tongues'".

Mark 16:17 Acts 10:44-48 Acts 8:12-17 Acts 19:1-6 Please note and do not confuse these scriptures with I Corinthians 12:7-12. In I Corinthians the apostle, Paul was writting to those who were already save (Holy Ghost filled)but in the book of Acts it is showing those who were receiving salvation. Please read these above passages completely and ask God for revelation not tradition of men. You will clearly see in these scripture passages above that they were believers but still needed to receive the Holy Ghost. Jesus said that believers shall speak with new tongues, cast out devils lay hands on the sick and the sick would recover. Not just some believers but all believers. << Home ArchivesMay 2005 June 2005 July 2005 August 2005 September 2005 November 2005 December 2005 July 2006 August 2006 September 2006 October 2006 November 2006 February 2007 |
