Pastor Robert W. Lyons, Jr. has an intense passion to do the will of God. His desire for true ministry is evident through his vision for Holistic personal development in the body of Christ. Word of Faith is embarking on a journey to proclaim the uncompromising gospel to a generation that has been over looked and neglected.
Wednesday, September 21, 2005Market Place EvangelismWhen you hear the term "Market Place Evangelism" What comes to mind? If you look at the scripture, you will find that Jesus did a strong majority of his ministry outside of the synagogue. How should this pattern influence our ministries today?
Comments:
I think that the Church, as a whole (not everybody), has become so infatuated with the idea of building big edifices and becoming "The Bigger Church," that we've neglected our real mission. That mission is to, as you've already stated, go into the "market place," in fact the Bible tells us in Luke 14:23 "...Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." I think that this is the the pattern of influence Jesus himself, both did and wants us to follow. I think that too often we get carried away with our own "agendas" that we neglect "being about our Father's business." I also think that HIS business is not exclusively inside the four walls of the Church Building, it's about ministry. Ministry should never be confined to the four walls of the Church, but ministry is, according to Webster's Dictionary, fostering, attending the needs of, to remedy, to doctor or nurse, to take care of and to watch over.
I agree with evangelist Johnny Solomon whole heartily. To me in different words, Market Place Evangelism mean go out into the world and talk to the unsaved to bring them into the house of the Lord so they can get be delivered just as Jesus did. It's not about pressuring people about JESUS or the word of GOD because you can run people away doing that. It's about showing and giving LOVE to one another and living a GODLY life.
Market Place Evangelism is simply getting the world saved without bring them to church. It is not about bring people to church because Christ healed and delivered in the market place, and he taught in the church(mat 4:23). It is our duty as Christians to be Ambassadors (representatives) of Christ which is easy to do in the church, but it hard for us to do in the market place. Lets be about our Father's business! Lets build a church without walls just like Christ did!
