Our churches seem to have lost their passion for prayer & evangelism

As we continue to grow and develop as ministries all over the world, and I hear the emphasis on innovative programs it seems that we, as a body of Christ, have lost our emphasis on prayer and evangelism. I am not saying that being innovative in our approach to ministry is not important, but that innovation should be focused towards saving the lost and communing with God through prayer.
Over the next couple days I would like to highlight some of the many reason why the Body of Christ should be passionate about prayer and evangelism. If you some reasons of your own, please feel free to leave them in the comments!

Small Group Ministries

For many of us that have grown up in church, we do not know much about small group ministry. For me, I know I went to church on Wednesday Night and then I would not really see those people again until Sunday Morning.

The more I study small group ministry, the more I realize that it is wonderful model for the personal growth and development of the members of any congregation.

For those that are currently involved in small group ministry, what do you think works well, and what does not?

For those that are not involved in small group ministry, what are your thoughts on the concept?

Holding Each Other Accountable

There are so many poor influences around us. The media uses sex to sell everything because they realize that it works! The question is, how do we go about holding each other accountable without coming across as critical or judgmental. When you are walking in any type of sin, the instinct of our "flesh" is to hide, however there is liberation that comes from being truthful (The truth will make you free)!

While the scripture gives us a model for handling faults with each other, how do you think we should handle mutual accountability?

CrossOver - Part 4

These are the notes from Part 4 of our message on crossover. We welcome any questions or comments!

--------------------------------------------

We have been dealing with our series about getting out of the box (crossover), and during this series we have made two major statements:
1 – Matthew 28:19 declares to us that are job as believers is to make disciples of all nations.
2 – Jesus as our example shows us the pattern by which we are to operate in evangelism – Matthew 4:23
Allow me to confirm that this is no easy task, however the bible further tells us that the fuel of our evangelistic work is the Holy Ghost – Acts 1:8
With this in view, last week we began to deal with getting out of the box with our giving. This message began to teach us the principle of the precious seed.
We looked at a sinful woman who took a years work of salary not knowing what her return on investment would be, and gave the entire seed. In return, all of her sin was forgiven.
Today, as we continue to get out the box, we are going to take another look at the precious seed. There are three main characters in our text today, and as we look at these characters, it is important for us to see ourselves in the scripture!

1 Samuel 9:1-4
We see kish in a situation. Some of his substance has been lost and it is his desire to bring this substance back. In an attempt to get his substance back, Kish sends out a precious seed (saul). The scripture tells us how precious this seed was because Saul was said to be head and shoulders above everyone else (Verse 2).
Some of us are walking in the shoes of Kish, we have lost a portion of our substance, and we must have enough faith to send a precious seed into the earth with the expectation that the seed will bring back that which has been lost.

Verses 5-7
There is a flip side of this some of us are walking in the shoes of Saul. We understand the revelation that a seed can unlock a word, however we have spent everything that we have during our journey. We are now at a point where we know we should give, but in our eyes we do not have it to give. We are at a point in our lives where we desire to turn back and give up on what God has called us to do all because we lack the resources ( in our eyes) to complete the task. You must not, however forget that you were sent into the earth with purpose – Genesis 1:26

Verse 8
Lastly, some of us are walking in the shoes of the servant. We don’t have much and it would be very easy for us to hold on to what we do have, but you have to be willing to step out on faith and be a blessing to someone else (get out of your box) realizing that the elevation of others can also contribute to your elevation.

Verse 10
Also shows us an important principle, because before the seed was sown, there was agreement about the seed. We must come to understand that without agreement (one accord), you set the groundwork for conflict.
• Agreement is an essential building block for progress!

Verses 15-17
• The seed that was sown for something temporal, ended up yielding a harvest for something eternal!
• Many of us are willing to invest in the temporal, but are not willing to invest in the eternal!
• The multiplication of your seed is based upon the hand that you put it in (feeding of the 5 thousand)

In this season, we must get out of our financial boxes and trust God to bring a harvest based upon our faith and trust in him.
