When we look at our standard weekly church services, it is clear that these services are very racially divided. If you have a congregation with an African American pastor, then the congregation tends to be largely African American. If you have a congregation with a European American pastor, then the congregation tends to follow the same. However, I have determined that it seems so much easier for the European American pastor to attract African Americans then it is the other way around. I guess I fail to truly understand why this is. I have my thoughts, and I will expound on those in my next post, but I would like to know your thoughts, and why you think we have this racial disconnect. What can be done on both sides of this issue to bring about change. After all, we should all have the same motivation as we worship the same God. Sound off, and let me know your thoughts.

i think its how the message is given or shell i say the fasion the message is given and all so racism as well.we live in america where everything is about race we still have the mentality that your skin color or your nationality makes u a unknown creater to other races and when i say the fasion the message is given i mean peoples comfort zones we have gotten comfortable with being defined by our race and not by our content of our charecter
Can you give more details when you say it is how the message is given? What is it about the delivery that you think changes the perception?
I heard it once said that most black people are used to being surrounded by whites. We are used to being the minority. Most of us have felt this way all of our lives.
But many white people, on the other hand, have a hard time fathoming this idea. They simply haven't experienced being in the minority. So if you take a black person and place them into a predominetly "white church" many are ok. Because it's almost familiar to them. But often if you take a white person and place them into a predominetly "black church" it's a whole nother story. They are now, for the first time, the minority. It is very unfamiliar to them and unfamilarity makes some of them uncomfortable.
I agree with you 100% of the fact that african americans are very familiar with being the minority. So, with this in view, what do you think the solution is? That is the question that I think we need to answer!
i have a few friends that are of othere races and they say that they feel uncomfortable being in a church that they are the minority also one of them says that blacks have a diff.way of worshiping and praising then others not that they dont approve but its not what they do thats what the other blogger means by the way or fashion the message is given
ok - I agree - now, what is the solution. We can not continue to be divided, at some point we must come together don't you think?
PRAY!!! I really can't think of another solution. I also think that blacks tend to invite blacks to their black church. I am not saying all but if I went to work and asked all of my white co-workers how many of them have been invited to church by a black person the number would be few.
We first need to invite them and second make sure they feel welsome *I guess*
I think the biggest problem is are we becoming all things to all people that we might save or bringing some to Christ, or are we only ministering to those we feel comfortable talking to? (1 Cor 9:19-23)

If we are only witnessing to one type of people (black or white) than are we listening to the Holy Ghost? Are we walking in Love, or are we being selfish, or are we letting the devil punk us into thinking that Heaven is only going to look like us?
